Abstract/Summary:
In this thesis, a novel dual-band radar array antenna, which will work in C band and Ku band, is researched. The printed dipole array is designed for C band, and the planar slotted-array antenna is used for Ku band. The dual-band array has higher gain and monopulse performance. The main contents are as follows:1. Based on the dipole antenna theory, a printed dipole array antenna is designed. The 3-D model of the antenna is set up and simulated by electromagnetic software, and the model is improved by the calculation results. The structure parameters of the printed dipole array are determined finally.2. The C-band antenna waveguide feed network including the power combining network and sum-difference network, is designed. The broadwall center inclined slot coupled waveguide is designed and optimized with electromagnetic field simulation software. The sum-difference network with four magic-T is designed, which will generate the sum signal, azimuth difference signal and vertical difference signal. The total network system is around the back of Ku-band antenna.3. The compounding array of planar slotted array antenna and printed dipole array antenna is constructed. The influence of electric properties after co-aperture combination of two single-frequency antennas is analyzed. With the effect of the occlusion of co-aperture antennas configuration, the antenna sidelobe of the planar slotted array is deteriorated obviously, and the other effect such as gain, difference figures, null etc., is little.4. The solution of restrain influence is researched and the design of printed dipole array antenna is modified. The modified printed dipole array design is optimized, and the dual-band complex monopulse antenna is worked out.5. The prototype is produced and tested. The experimental data and analysis result prove that the dual-band antenna can meet the application need of dual-band radar with the operating frequency of C band and Ku band, and verify the feasibility of the design.
