The second layer switches can effectively separate the collision domains, but it cannot effectively handle the impact of the broadcast domain on the network. When the number of hosts in the network a increases, the throughput of the network will be greatly reduced, the packet forwarding rate will be sharply reduced, the network bandwidth can not be fully used and the security of the network may also has some problems.VLAN technology can be a very good solve to the above problems. VLAN, virtual local area network, can across different network segment. A VLAN is a logical broadcast domain. VLAN can cover multiple network devices. VLAN can divide network equipment into a number of different network segment.VLAN technology is of great popularity in the practical application. In the general way of Internet network, the communication of VLAN mode, wastes much more IP address resource.With the rapid development of the Internet, the IP address resource is more and more nervous, in this case, in order to alleviate the tense situation of IP address resources, the concept of the Super VLAN is raised. Super VLAN is also called a VLAN polymerization. A Super VLAN can contain more than one Sub VLAN.A Sub VLAN is a separate broadcast domain. The hosts in the Sub VLAN, are isolated on the second layer, and can be communicated with each other on the third layer. Sub VLAN can be added to the physical ports, but Super VLAN can’t add physical port in. Whether the Super VLAN is in the UP position, depends on whether its Sub VLAN is in the UP position. Super VLAN technology is involved in the ARP proxy function. Super VLAN technology achieved the purpose of saving IP address resource.Super VLAN technology can effectively solve the problem of network loop,can flexibly distribute the IP address, can ensure a quite good network throughput and can eliminate the differences between the subnets. Super VLAN also make it much easier for network upgrades. These advantages make Super VLAN has a big advantage in actual application of the network, in this case,it is becoming more and more widely used in the actual level.But it is not perfect only from the theoretical argument, this conclusion also need to be demonstrated in practical application.This article embarks from the practical application, completes the software implementation of Super VLAN function, use it in the actual network,and also set up the test environment, complete the a full range of function test to demonstrate the correctness of the theory mentioned above.
