Hexahedral meshes have obvious advantages in terms of calculation error, the number of cells, and resistance to distortion, so hexahedral mesh is becoming a mainstream mesh in finite element analysis. The finite element method is an efficient approximate numerical solution to solve varieties of complex engineering and scientific calculation problem, which has been widely used to simulation of various scientific and engineering problems on 3D solid models. However, the problem that automatic generation of 3D hexahedral mesh doesn’t get a real sense of solution. Therefore, how to generate high-quality hexahedral meshes with uniform sized and regularly arranged cells for the real world 3D entities has been a hot research topic in the computer graphics, computational geometry, and numerical analysis.Interior vertices placement of swept layer has become a key step of hexahedral mesh generation of swept volume. In order to reduce the geometric distortion between swept layer mesh cells and the source surface mesh cells, we propose swept layer vertices generation based on Harmonic deformation. The boundary vertices of swept layer meshes are generated by harmonic field, and the interior vertices of the swept layer are computed by morphing technology based on harmonic deformation. To improve the swept layer mesh quality better, we propose hexahedral mesh generation of swept volume based on optimized template. The algorithm computes optimized quadrilateral mesh template based on the consideration of complex swept layer mesh shape. Then we construct swept layer quadrilateral mesh by sweeping the quadrilateral mesh template along the sweeping direction. Finally, we can generate high-quality hexahedral mesh. The results prove that the algorithm can effectively improve the quality of swept layer quadrilateral mesh, and guide the generation of hexahedral mesh with high quality.
