With the rapid development of wireless communication technology,wireless industrial communication network also become a research hotspot in the fieldof industrial. As a new generation of wireless communication technology, Wi-Fi(Wireless Fidelity, Wi-Fi) has the mobility of mobile communication technology and thebroadband experience of fixed access. The wireless network users can get theperformance, rate and availability of the Ethernet via Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi forms a kind ofnetwork which can satisfy the users’ need in maximize. PROFIBUS is the most popularfield bus standard in the world at present. PROFIBUS connects the field control systemand the bottom equipments so that forms a communication network on the bottom of theindustrial production. Therefore, the PROFIBUS monitoring technology based on Wi-Fiwill become a new growth point of industrial automation products in the future. Thetechnology has a strong market demand and broad application prospects.Based on the detailed analysis of network structure and network protocol ofPROFIBUS-DP and Wi-Fi, a method based on embedded gateway is proposed to realizeinterconnection and communication between two kinds of heterogeneous networks. Then,the wireless clients based on B/S mode and C/S mode were designed so that the wirelessclients can monitor the devices of PROFIBUS-DP via Wi-Fi.According to the reqirement of research work, hardware and software wasdeveloped for the systerm in this paper. S5VP210, a kind of chip of ARM9, was selectedas the embedded processor in hardware of the gateway designed in this research. Theperipheral circuits of the gateway, including the USB interface circuit, serial interfacecircuit, power supply circuit, were designed in this paper. In software systerm, theplatform of software development was set up firstly, including the transplantation ofLinux operating systems, the transplantation of Appweb server, the transplantation ofdatabase. Based on the patform, the systerm programs and the wireless clients based onB/S mode and C/S mode were developed.To demonstrate the correctness of the protocol conversion method, the feasibility ofwireless clients based on B/S mode and C/S mode, the safety of the system, thesimulation tests were conducted in the paper. The test results show that the use of embedded gateway and wireless clients in two modes can realize monitoringPROFIBUS-DP devices safely based on Wi-Fi.
