In view of the growing demands for high speed and efficiency of the future network, National Engineering Laboratory for Next Generation Internet Interconnection Devices in Beijing Jiaotong University has put forward Smart Cooperative Network Architecture to solve the problem of Internet’s resource utility, security and mobility. In this paper, we design and implement the packet forwarding mechanism based on Family Identifiers which is significantly important to develop the Smart Cooperative Network prototype system and verify the correctness and feasibility of the Smart Cooperative Network.Firstly, we analysised the current situation of the network in aspects of its resource utility and energy consumption and put forward the shortcomings of the original design idea of the Internet. Then we briefly introduce the Smart Cooperative Network’s "three layer" and "two domain" system architecture model.Secondly, we introduced the design and implementation of MPLS and OpenFlow, which are very popular on the packet forwarding mechanism. Then we detailed the routing mechanism, service registering mechanism, service fetching mechanism, packet forwarding mechanism and so on in the Smart Coperative Network architecture.Thirdly, in view of different networking strategy of each autonomous system, we designed and implemented two kinds of packet forwarding scheme in domain, namely the forwarding scheme based on traditional routing mechanism and the forwarding scheme based on Family Identifiers. In the scheme based on traditional routing mechanism, we basicly completed the design and implementation of forwarding modules in the entrance routers, exit routers and resource managers; in the scheme based on Family Identifiers, we basicly completed the design and implementation of memory and forwarding modules in routing components. Then we built the prototype system and tested the function and application of verification. The results meet the design requirements, the scheme based on Family Identifiers outperforms the scheme based on traditional routing mechanism.Finally, we achieved the controlling and forwarding separation mechanism based on Family Identifiers, which mainly contains the design of control protocol, the design and implementation of key modules in resource managers, routers and controllers. Then we built the prototype system and tested the function and application of verification, the results meet the design requirements, the controlling and forwarding separation scheme in the Smart Cooperative Network outperforms the existing OpenFlow scheme.
