The Study On The Discovery Service In The Library Of Higher Vocational College

Discovery Service is an intelligent mode in Information Age. Both Domestic and International the intelligent originations and Database Publishers have paid much attention to the service concept and technology of the research. Discovery Service used Metadata Storage to integrate the Library resources and resources of different structure and different sources, then took advantage of the technique of knowledge management to make resources to be efficient. At the same time, it configured the resources to meet the changing information needs of users through the one retrieval service at the fastest speed and the simplest retrieval language and the quality of information resources.This study analyzed and summarized current situation of the discovery service of the library of Vocational College under the mode of College-Enterprise Cooperation through the literature analysis. Then it pointed out the shortcomings. At the same time, it analyzed the application of discovery Service in a university library. This study tried to analyze why the Discovery Service has to be carried out. The Development of discovery Service is the cutting point of this study.This study analyzed the "College-Enterprise Cooperation" mode of education and the appli cation of " Discovery Service ", and tried to combine them. The study made reference to research results of the two research questions abroad. First of all, it analyzed why the Discovery Service had to be carried out in, which involved in the changes in the Network environment, the changes in the information resources, the changes in the users, the changes in the concept and mode of service. Meanwhile, it pointed out that the discovery service is the inevitable trend of the development of Vocational College Library. It also set the tone for the development, function and concept of the discovery service of the vocational college. Finally, it introduced the application scope of Discovery Service including special meta-data in library storage construction. Furthermore,it introduced the technique of Discovery Service from the resource discovery, knowledge discovery and users’ discovery. Moreover, in regard to Liberian team construction, it pointed out the professional and technical training is needed for the Liberians with the changing role of them.
