As an application field of location based services,location sharing services are very useful in daily life,such as making friends,shopping,travelling with other,ect.Particularly in some special fields such as emergency rescue,disaster relief, wild adventure,scientific investigation,combat operations,etc.,sharing location information with others in real time can not only greatly improve collaborative capability,but also save people’s lives. Consequently,it’s quite necessary to design a location sharing system applied to the above fields. At present,although some apps can provide the location sharing services,once the existing mobile communication network is interrupted,the location sharing services cannot be realized.Based on ZigBee wireless network technology and Android development technology,a portable novel system is designed in this paper,in order to resolve the problem of sharing location information in real time without the help of the existing mobile communication network.The concrete implement method is: every team member need carry a ZigBee node and a mobile phone equipped with GPS,the ZigBee nodes are used to establish a mesh network,realizing the location information interaction among team members,the mobile phone is used to obtain the location information,to keep a record of evry team member’s movement,and to display their tracks on the screen.In order to acquire geographic information more efficiently,baidu map is embedded in the mobile phone client software.The communication distance between ZigBee nodes has a significant impact on the reliability of the ZigBee mesh network,although the ZigBee network can extend its coverage by“multi-hop”. In this paper, CC2591 is used as the RF front of CC2530 to increase transmit power and improve receiver sensitivity,and it is experimented that the communication distance between ZigBee nodes is beyond 400 meters in open spaces.10 Zigbee nodes and 5 Android mobile phones are used in the final experiment,experimental results illustrate the ablility of the system to meet the requirements of sharing location information in real time without the help of the existing mobile network.
