Wireless sensor networks are built self-organizing networks by a large of inexpensive nodes with wireless communication function. The performance of network is affected by the quality of topology on a large degree. Therefore, Topology control deals with how to quickly construct and maintain an efficient and reasonable network topology to increase the network capacity, reduce node energy and enhance the network survivability. Furthermore, It’s the key issue of wireless sensor network topology control technology practical engineering applications that how to design a simple and efficient distributed topology control system and scientifically and embed it reasonably in protocol stack of Ad hoc networks.Under ensuring the specific coverage and connectivity, Wireless sensor network topology control adjusts the transmit power and working conditions to reduce the energy consumption of nodes and improve network transmission capacity. This paper analyzes and compares some classical topology control algorithms, that shows, Node density and communication range is a major factor affecting the performance of the topology, As they led to the interference signaLIn order to solve the maldistribution problem and the interference signal for wireless sensor network, Regional Assignment strategies is proposed, what’s more, SRADTC, Distributed Topology Control Algorithm based-on Regional Assignment with Switched-beam Directional Antennas, is proposed. Additionally, the connectivity of topology constructed by SRADTC is proved theoretically, the performance of SRADTC algorithm is analyzed. At the last part of article, we analyzes the relationship between the topology control protocol and wireless self-organizing network protocol stack. Solutions, embedding SRADTC algorithm to MAC protocol, is proposed, New MAC protocol with topology control function is simulated by OPNET. Simulation results show that, SRADTC improved the survivability and performance of networks comparing the traditional algorithms.
