Mobile office is a blending outcome of the fast growing communication industry and IT industry, integrating perfectly the convenience of communication industry with the maturity in software application and abundance in business content of IT industry, and has been a whole new generation of office mode in the wake of the computerized automatic office and internet remote office.As convergent service and optical network develops rapidly with its increasing complexity, the pressure for operation, maintenance and management grows remarkably. This thesis mainly focuses on establishing a modern and informative handheld installation and maintenance system based on smart client access mode, optimizing and designing the working process for exterior line construction and daily production, as well as developing system with popular promoting models and technologies. This system is mainly based on software engineering theories, and builds the application system through engineering approaches. It starts with system requirement analysis, so as to conduct such work as general design, specific design and system development.This thesis starts with the conception of mobile office, analyses its research background and discusses the current research situation at home and abroad, providing theoretic and research basis for handheld intelligent management of carrier-class operation, maintenance and production.This thesis mainly introduces the analysis and design of handheld operation and maintenance system. First, it describes the system’s location in the OSS system structure, analyses the need for handheld operation and maintenance and plans for the functional modules required to be realized. Second, it introduces the system design, describes the system structure and states how to realize the programmes of the key functions while talking about data models. At last, it provides examples to explain some tests for key modules of the handheld operation and maintenance system, and shows the actual test results.For the system structure, the handheld operation and maintenance system for Shanxi Telecom is divided into client, server and external interface. With 3G smart phone(Android system) acting as the application terminal for ultimate users, the system provides the on-site installation and maintenance personnel of Shanxi Telecom with instant and convenient operation and maintenance task scheduling service. Based on the current installation and maintenance system as well as the service assurance system, Shanxi Telecom realizes data adjustment and interaction through interfaces and provides basic data access for handheld installation and maintenance system. For technology, the client software adopts the software architecture plan featuring Native App style, takes Java as the development language, Eclipse+ADT as the development tool, and integrates Android SDK with JDK as the development environments. This system realizes data access and functional operation for the server’s external platform through HttpClient, Reset and JSON technologies. For data transmission of external system interface, due to a lack of database for mobile application servers, data could be obtained through interface in XML format and will be converted into the form required by the mobile application client to conduct data interaction.
