| Flat panel display has become the mainstream of the display unit. Contrasted with the traditional CRT display, which has a motion blur flaw that is specifically showed by the blurred edges and color distortion. Nowadays the study of motion blur detection methods is not in-depth enough in the domestics and overseas. The common testing standards and authority is still absence in the related industry. To meet the needs of the development of flat panel display technology and improve product quality, research for the blur detection method is essential and urgent.With mechanism of motion blur and the retina imaging characteristics, the cause of motion blur is analyzed systematically, and two detection methods are proposed based on domestic and foreign research. One is based on hypothesis of smooth pursuit eye movement, and the other is modulation transfer function(MTF). The blurred image is obtained by time-domain integration on luminance through response curve of LCD and then evaluation is made. After that, the evaluation of LCD motion blur is acquired through detection results quantified by BEW. The detection method of smooth pursuit eye movement hypothesis is improved by frame width window integration, and the detection velocity is increased on condition of ensuring precision. The MTF theory in conventional optical system is brought in LCD motion blur detection to analyze mechanism image quality declining caused by motion blur. The blurred image is obtained by simulation where the variable includes velocity and space frequency based on sinusoidal grating. The evaluation on image show quality is implemented by modulating transfer function parameter compared with original image. To verify the two above methods, rapid detection platform of LCD motion blur is designed based on photovoltaic conversion principle. The platform is consist of hardware data acquisition(HAD) and upper computer. The response characteristic curve of LCD luminance is acquired based on photovoltaic conversion principle.We use these two detection methods with the simulation and experimental research on the detection platform, and the simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the first detection method has the characteristics of simple and fast, which is suited for the quality inspection of the products in the large-scale LCD manufacturers; The second detection method has a higher precision and a longer test time, which meet the requirement of high precision sampling inspection. |
