The design comes from CD recording project of DVD platform based on Sunplus technologic company. Lossless audio technology standard and solutions are provided by Microsoft, Apple. At present, the DVD platform has supported the CD recording into MP3 file, but the audio quality is lossy greatly. The purpose of this project is to adapt to the new needs of the home entertainment market platform and realize lossless audio encoder in real-time CD recording DVD platform. Lossless audio coding technology that based on linear prediction techniques(LPC) and entropy coding(RICE CODING) will become more and more popular.This paper analyzes the principle of the current popular lossless audio coding algorithm, and decides to choose APE(Monkey’s Audio Codec) encoder as object the project based on the analysis of the complexity and feasibility. Then, according to the official reference source code, establish the model with the C language(including algorithm optimization, set up audio test library and so on). C language model could be transplanted into ADI DSP environment, so it’s needed to learn DSP language instruction set and the IDE simulation environment, verify the correctness. The last is the verification on hardware platform. The DSP code be translated into object code and integrated into the existing DVD system to verify the veracity and fluency.This work by optimizing the APE encoder, the maximum MIPS of APE encoder is 95 in Sunplus DVD system. So the lossless audio coding can realize real-time recording in the DVD platform and audio quality is not losing. And the high strength of the software simulation and hardware testing to ensure that can be used in the products.The achievement of this design has been applied in Blu-ray DVD system of Sunplus, and prepare to porting into Digital DTV, car DVD, Sound Bar and Digital Broadcasting system. The design has been provided the more information for further research.
