The Ethernet has high speed, good compatibility and is easy to install. Besides, Ethernet supports almost all popular network protocols, so it has been widely used for many years and spread to communication missions in some extreme environment. However, the hardwares are more likely to invalidate under these circumstance and at the same time the network should not be affected by these node problems or link failures. Consequently, it is worth studying on Ethernet in real applications. The industrial applications demand the network have high reliability and zero recovery time, which is realized mainly by increasing the network redundancy nowadays. However, the Ethernet and TCP/IP protocols don’t define redundant communication, so dual redundant Ethernet communication is widely studied. Dual redundant Ethernet is not only feasible but also highly available, but there are not so many researches about this topic at home and abroad, with much work about theories and realizations left to be done.Based on the project of “study on the technique of highly reliable dual redundant Ethernet with comprehensive control” supported by Aeronautical Science Foundation of China, this thesis aims to design and realize highly reliable dual redundant Ethernet, optimize the network and improve its performance. The main contents and innovation points of research are as follows:The relevant network topologies were studied, compared and analyzed and appropriate topology is chose to build network, which makes it convenient to realize the applications.Apply multicast in dual redundant network, which changes the process of the node joining and leaving multicast group and the process of multicast sending and receiving, so as to support multicast in different communication modes. Two independent networks will be built and run multicast protocol, in which two multicast trees will be formed to route multicast data. To improve the reliability of multicast and reduce the recovery time, the redundant multicast is used to transform important data by adding some cost and sacrificing some bandwidths. The network is built to carry out some experiments on multicast in dual redundant Ethernet to validate its feasibility and reliability.Build highly reliable dual redundant Ethernet based on MPLS, where two paths are pre-established between host computers. Based on the 1+1 protection method, the mechanism of redundant LSPs backing up for each other is used, which put the operation of reduplicate data in computer node. Change the manner of data sending and receiving, which make it support redundant communication. Use different LSPs in different modes. And in redundant mode, both LSPs will be used to send the same data, so as to improve the reliability. The experiments have validated its feasibility and reliability.
