Since the 1990 s, with rapid development of science and technology, especially network technology, which improves computer popularization rate. The demanding for user’s cultural level and professional knowledge is much lower, and their safety consciousness gets weaker, resulting in a series of security problems. So the protection of important information is an urgent problem we have to resolve.Nowadays, there are two ways to ensure information assurance. This thesis presents an improved LSB hiding algorithm based on MP3 compressed domain, which can be used for save important information safely. Audio-based information hiding technology is an important branch of information hiding technology, and audio is closely related to our life.Therefore using MP3 as an information hiding carrier is of high practicality and concealment.The thesis chooses MP3 audio as carriers to research on information hiding, the main work of this thesis includes:(1)The thesis analyzes the principle and classification of information hiding technology, and analyzes the principle of audio-based information hiding technology and the advantages and disadvantages of various information hiding algorithms.(2) The thesis analyzes codec operation and the file format of MP3 audio, then builds and implements a MP3 audio file parser which can parse the structure of MP3 files and locate the offset of scale factor.(3) The thesis implements an improved LSB hiding algorithm based on MP3 compressed domain, and a hiding and reduction system based on this algorithm.The test proves that this hiding and reduction system has a better transparency, especially at a lower embedding rate transparency, and the speed of hiding and reduction is very fast.
