The CATV network has been evolutioned to full service Next Generation Broadband(NGB) technology with the implementation of Triple-Play. It has been widely accepted as a primary solution using Ethernet Passive Optical Network(EPON) and Ethernet over Coax(EOC) for CATV network bidirectional innovation, which has many advanteges such as low cost, full service supporting, convenience upgrading and management, etc. This thesis presents a comprehensive study on EPON+EOC technology and its application in Nantong CATV networks.Firstly, a brief introduction of CATV network principles and characters is presented, followed analysis of major bidirectional innovation strategies. The EPON+EOC scheme is analyzed in detail especially on its planning and networking issues. Finally, a typical implementation proposal for Nantong CATV network is provided which achieved good results in actual project implemetation.
