Information becomes an very important society resource in nowadays. However, information brings lots of security problems as well as the benefits it creates. The leak of important information may cause great loss to people, group, even the whole country. So more and more people and organization pay great attention on the security of important information. This paper proposes a new information hiding approach based on Moire effect by studying the theory of Moire effect. This approach gives strong reliable ability and security to information when delivering the information. The structure of this paper is made up by the following parts.Firstly, the paper studies the theory of information hiding technology and visual cryptography technology. Then it analyzes the Moire effect and its application on anti-counterfeit printing filed. Based on all the previous study on the relative theory, this paper presents a new information hiding approach which is based on the Moire effect. This new approach makes the techonolgy of Moire effect available in the information hiding field. Meanwhile, the new approach avoids the limit of screening process during the traditional printing, so the information could be hidden in the continuous tone image.Secondly, this paper studies on the model of information hiding technology based on Moire effect. Then, this paper achieves the purpose of different frequency straight line gratings information hiding. On this basis, this paper brings the curve grating into the information hiding technology by adjusting the parameters of grating properly. The security advances a lot because of the curve grating increases the cost of decoding the hidden information. Moreover, this paper achieves mutiple lines gratings information hiding approach by improving the straight line grating. The multiple lines gratings include multiple frequencies gratings and multiple directions gratings, which could not only make the hidden infotmation securer but also increases the capacity of hidden information in the same image.Finally, this paper designes the experiments to test the validity of the information hiding technology it presents, including straight line grating approach, curve grating approach and multiple lines gratings approach. Futhermore, the experiments imitate the decoding process by resorting the computers. This paper analyzes the results of the experiments and gives the conclution of this approach.This paper proposes a new information hiding approach by studying the application of Moire effect which successfully ensures the security of important information. Meanwhile, this paper improves this new technology by bringing curve grating and multiple lines gratings. The improvement could give more security to important information and increase the capacity of hidden information.
