In the past few decades, because of high bandwidth, low cost and easily implementation, the standard Ethernet is the most popular local area network communication protocol. However, these features caused the standard Ethernet not able to satisfy the requirement of the transmission of the real-time tasks. In order to support both real-time and the compatibility of the standard Ethernet, another solution is proposed – Time-Triggered Ethernet.While Time-Triggered Ethernet guarantees the time determinacy for real-time tasks, but ignores the uncertainty in network. Furthermore, the uncertainty will induce packet loss in network. In order to improve the reliability of data transmission in Time-Triggered Ethernet, the paper focuses on the scheduling algorithms and verifies the algorithms with experiments. The main work and contributions are shown as follows:1. We modify the schedule methods in the switches in Time-Triggered Ethernet(Time-Triggered Ethernet Switch) to forward packets, including No Receiving Window(No RW) Algorithm, Earliest Deadline First(EDF) Algorithm, Priority-Based Algorithm and Safety Algorithm. Different algorithms adapt different application situations. From different views, methods for improving the data transmission reliability have been researched.2. A Time-Triggered Ethernet simulation model was designed to verify the correctness and validity of the algorithms. With the tool OPNET, we implement the model of end systems, switches and physical links in Time-Triggered Ethernet.3. Through experimental data and scene, the algorithms are proved to be correct. More effective ways to improve the reliability of data transmission for real-time tasks have been given.Time-Triggered Ethernet is wildly used in aerospace and vehicle field, and it has a promising prospect. The research on the data transmission reliability in Time-Triggered Ethernet has strong practicability and popularization value.
