Periodical industry is really suffering during these days except the female fashion magazines.After several years of development, female fashion magazines play a leading role both in the quality of content and management. But with the new media menacing, fashion magazines are also facing many challenges and need to upgrade of industrialization urgently.This paper regards "Chinese COSMO" as the research object, combined with the value chain theory. The paper tries to summarize the mode of female fashion magazine value chain and also points out some deficiencies. It also hopes to provide some references to Chinese fashion magazine and even periodical industry.The first part of this paper describes the development of Chinese media and the research significance of fashion magazine’s value chain. Domestic and foreign research situation at present are also mentioned in this part.In the second part, it narrates the history of fashion magazine and also explains why choose "Chinese COSMO" as the sample.The third and fourth part is the core of the paper which analyses the structure of "Chinese COSMO" in the side of content, place, market event and service which has a direct corresponding relationship with value chain. It also focuses on the challenges and solutions about "Chinese COSMO" according to its current value chain.The fourth part builds a link between the value chain development and social environment including economic, culture and technology factors. It also draws the "Chinese COSMO" history picture from traditional value chain via longitudinal then to the virtual value chain.And finally it makes a conclusion that the key successful strategy for fashion magazine long-term development should be media standard.
