| With the rapid development of Internet, virtualization and cloud computing, the improvement of enterprises’ informatization level and the expansion of data center, there is a substantial increase in the number of router. To ensure network’s reliability and self-healing,redundancy design like redundant network node and redundant link is necessary in traditional scheme. So the complexity of network protocol and management increases.According to the features of current communication equipment and network framework, this thesis proposes a router virtualization scheme based on IRF to reduce the number of network nodes and the complexity of network protocol. The core of this virtualization technology is using software technology to make two routers which are connected together become one virtual device. The virtual device is equivalent to only one network node so that it can reduce network nodes, simplify network framework and increase flexibility. But it still has the backup function to ensure the reliability of network. The thesis elaborates the design procedures of IRF based on four periods the IRF will experience include physical connection, topology collection, role election and system maintenance. Focusing on the problems those to be solved, simple virtual architecture, high reliability and simple network management are proposed after requirement analysis. In system design, the important foundation is the organization of virtual router’s basic device information and the difficult points are the cooperation of topology process and stack management, data synchronization among devices. In the end, realization of the virtual system and essential tests are accomplished and the test results show that the two routers have combined into one after loading the virtual system. It can reduce the number of network nodes and the complexity of device management, and the performance indicators meet the system requirements. |
