The digital image acquisition technology which plays a crucial role in all fields of our life is now becoming more and more wildly applied in high-end field including agriculture, medicine, industry and military. With the increasing improvement of the frame frequency and resolution ratio of imaging sensors, increasing levels of the transmission rate of the large amount of image data from the imaging system to the terminal PC is required. Therefore, it is of great significance to study the high-speed image acquisition and transmission system. The Camera Link port supports extremely fast speed for image data transmission as well as long-distance transmission while the Ethernet technology has been developed into several high-speed data transmission modes such as fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet and 10-Gigabit Ethernet. This thesis designs an image acquisition and transmission system based on the Camera Link and the Gigabit Ethernet.This thesis introduces the integral design scheme as well as its development environment of the acquisition and transmission system which realizes the image data acquisition and Gigabit-Ethernet transmission based on the MPC8313 E processor and Camera Link port. The design mainly consists of the hardware part and software part. In the hardware part, the minimum system of MPC8313 E processor, the TTL/LVDS signal conversion circuit based on Camera Link port, as well as the Gigabit Ethernet module, data interface module and serial port module based on the MPC8313 E processor are designed; in the software part, the equipment device driver based on the I2 C trunk under the framework of the V4L2 video driver, the Gigabit-Ethernet data transmission application program based on the socket network program and the video acquisition application program based on the V4 L2 video capture interface programming specification which are all under the Embedded Linux Operation System are designed; additionally, the thesis also transplants the boot-strap program u-boot, Linux kernel and file system, and meanwhile, it also contains a brief design of the image display routine of the upper computer.This thesis conducts the corresponding actual test of the main units of the system and the result shows that the system is able to reach its due goal and accomplish the image data acquisition and transmission.
