We probe the status quo and associated factors about the online civic participation using the Weibo and Wechat moments in the means of questionnaire. At the aspect of associated factors, researcher verifies them in two aspects: the service condition of Weibo and Wechat moments, and “the civic volunteerism model” in the social media era. Furthermore, the researcher tries to comprehend the psychological motivation and attitude of college students joining in the online civic participation in the ways of the Weibo and Wechat moments, then discuss its possibility, limitation and the social impact.The investigation discovered that it is still not common for college student join in the online civic participation through Weibo and Wechat moments. The usage time of Weibo and Wechat moments is obviously positive associated with the behavior of online civic participation in those platforms, in which “the civic volunteerism model” is likewise available.
