| The development of big data drives technological and business innovations over global areas. With the appearance of a combination of big data and publishing industry, the transformation of publishing agencies are confronted with new opportunities and potential. Although the utilization of big data on government policies, transportation, finance and other industries develops rapidly, the ability of applying big data by publishing agencies appears to separate themselves from the market and cannot meet demands of readers. The issue of adopting big data for the purpose of changing the mode of information collections in editing processes, providing data support for topics has been arguably important.The study is divided into six chapters, including background, implications, subjects, literature review and the definition of core concept in the first chapter, the situation of information collections in editing processes in the second chapter(aiming to analyze factors to current situations by exploring the scope and methods of content of information collections in editing processes), the impacts of big data on the scope of information collections in the third chapter(from aspects of general information, publishing market information, author information and customer information, basing on the source of big data), the reconstruction of information collection processes in the fourth chapter(describing four steps of collecting, processing, analyzing and exhibiting information), case studies in publishing industry by the use of big data(focusing on two cases: “Large data acquisition system for children’s classification of China†by Relay Press, “CNPe Readingâ€, in order to explore each design scheme and effects of them on driving the development of publishing industry) and epilogue and further expectations in the last chapter(summarizing the paper, pointing out the deficiencies and negative impacts of applying big data by publishing industry). |
