With the rapid development of mobile Internet, mobile APP design gets more and more attention of researcher. The pros and cons of APP design directly affect the user viscosity, thus the competitiveness of the APP design is affected. Mobile product designers have to focus their attention on the usability of APP interaction design. At present, the researches on usability evaluation of APP interaction design are mostly examining user’s subjective assessment of APP interaction design. The assessment methods are single, lack of theoretical basis and technical support. To solve the above problems, this thesis integrates traditional usability evaluating methods and eye movements technology, in order to more accurately assess the usability of APP interaction design. In this paper, the usability of IM (Instant Messenger) as a case has been evaluated. The main jobs that this thesis has done are as follows:(1) Extracting IM interaction design elements. The IM interaction design elements are finally determined by the field investigation method and expert discussion method.(2) Building IM usability evaluation scale. This theis establishes IM usability evaluation scale by literature consulting and expert discussion method, then constructs the reliability and validity of the scale from the questionnaire to finally determine the IM usability evaluation scale.(3) Eye movements experiment on the selected representative IM. By collecting the subjective usability evaluating data and objective eye movements’data and then analyzing and testing the preliminary selected data, this thesis finally extracts the available eye movement index.(4) Establishing relationship model of the interaction design elements with eye tracking indexes and the interaction design elements with usability by quantification theory I and partial least-square regression method, then verifies the validity of the model, and finally optimizes the interaction design according to the results of the two models.
