In recent years, based on the usage of weather radar which are set up all over the country, with the purpose to further improve the accuracy of the weather radar, to ensure the timeliness of the weather forecasts, and to achieve high reliability of the radar servo system, a PWM-pulse-width-modulation-based servo control system was designed and developed. With DC servo motor as driven device, and circuit loop, voltage loop and position loop as three closed-loop control mode, this servo system would achieve high-precision and all-weather servo driving.For starters, this paper studies the principle of the PWM pulse width modulation system, determines which control mode to be used, as well as way to implement it. The hardware platform of the servo system is built with PWM power amplifier design as the core, and completes the circuits design of the main consistent part, such as switching power amplifier, voltage-pulse width converter, servo controller, Corner display unit. The model of some important devices like measuring device, performing device and driven parts must be analyzed, and careful calculations must be carried out to the PWM amplifier triangular wave frequency and other parameters. Dynamic model must be built according to the reliability needs, also it requires comprehensive analysis and consideration to determine the manner and algorithm of compensation.The paper also describes the development and design of the servo control system. The software is developed based on Windows OS and Visual C++, by communicating with the host computer and the angle information of the sampling antenna, it could display the radar status and fault outputs on terminal device. As a result, the output of antenna precision, velocity and angle information could be controlled flexibly and easily.
