In recent years, vigorous development on the satellite communication technology has proposed higher requirements for antenna applications, especially in on-the-move communication systems. The performance of the antenna is very important to the influence of the whole communication system.Traditional on-the-move antennas have some problems hard to overcome: parabolic antenna, although this kind of antenna have stable gain and good scanning effect, but it has big volume, high profile, slow beam scanning speed, high requirements on mechanical turntable; Dielectric lens antenna can work on multi-band communication, but its structure is complex, it also has the weakness of hard to set array and low performance at high frequency; Phased array antenna has high scanning speed and small size, but this kind of antenna also hard to overcome these weakness: large amount of components, high cost, low performance at large scan angle, hard to achieve high gain.In this paper, firstly, the author designs the parallel plate waveguide continuous transverse stub antenna at Ka-band, it has the advantages of low profile, high-angle scanning and high gain. In addition, the structure of this antenna is relatively simple to overcome the shortcomings of some traditional on-the-move antennas. This antenna is made up of radiation network, feeding network and circular polarizer. The radiation is consist of 44 continuous transverse stub units; Feeding network is 1-32 waveguide power divider in order to achieve TEM mode; Circular polarizer is made up of metal grids. Full-wave simulation has made using HFSS software for antenna’s components and its entirety, processed and tested, the results show that the antenna’s performance achieve the desired effect.Next, the author design the continuous transverse stub antenna using printed circuit board technology, so as for higher frequency W-band application, and realizes the planarity and dual polarization. Planar continuous transverse stub antenna is compatible with standard printed circuit board technology. The processing technology has high precision and mature technology, makes the realization of the antenna easier and the cost lower. Due to the very high frequency application, effect on antenna’s performance caused by the dielectric constant of substrate is not so small, the substrate vendor does not provide properties for substrates at such high frequencies. Therefore, before designing of antenna, the author designed the substrate integrated waveguide multi-resonator method to measure the accurate characteristics of the substrates. Multi-resonator method is a kind of broadband resonance method which can accurately measure the dielectric constant and loss tangent values of the substrate. Measured results using this method on dielectric constant and loss tangent shows the effectiveness of this method. Then, the author takes the measured parameters of the substrate into HFSS full-wave simulation, simulation optimizations work on the antenna components and the entirety. Then, processed and tested, the results show that the antenna performance is stable, come to the desired effect.
