The Design And Development Based On Image Processing Of The Water Meter Management System

In many places,the data of water meters is collected by traditional methods in nowadays. The traditional meter reading methods not only expends a great deal of manpower and material resources, but also can cause many other problems, for examples, the efficiency and accuracy are influenced by state of mind of workers, and the collected data cannot automatic processed using computers. In order to improve the efficiency of data acquisition and data statistics,the automatic meter reading system based on digital image process and network technique is raised. In this system, the workers or users just take a photo toward the water meter using smarts phones, and mail to the specified mailbox, water companies extract the corresponding data from the images. The data is automatically proposed and analyzed in time, and the information of users and water consumption are saved in the databases. he automatic meter reading system improve the efficiency and save cost greatly.This system using machine vision software Halcon to process the digital image, and some common digital process methods are used, such as dynamic binarization, morphological operations, image segment, Digital recognition and so on. The system Interface is designed for easy operation using C#. The system mainly is consists of the sending and receiving email module, the manual handling module, the alarm system module and the system registry system management module. The automatic meter reading system can basic meet the requirement of the management of the water company.
