The common network storage solutions are generally based on Fibre Channel(FC) protocol and Ethernet protocol technology. FC has the characteristics of high performance, high reliability and high scalability, which helps it to occupy the high-end market of traditional network storage products. While Ethernet has a large number of low-end storage products with the advantage of simplification, flexibility and higher cost performance. With the layout of the Gigabit Ethernet, these two kinds of network technology for the network storage bring risks and uncertainties to users’ upgrade. Therefore, to promote the development of network storage market,the unified network architecture and the convergence of heterogeneous networks are the main trends of the development of network storage technology.The main goal of this paper is to study the network bridging of 4G FCand 10G Ethernet, design and implement the hardware IP core of protocol conversion. First, it studies the network models of FC protocol, FCoE and UDP protocols in 10G Ethernet, and determine the level of FC and UDP protocol conversion for FC-2 layer; then, introduce the hardware circuit design of two network bridge system. And then design the IP core of FC and FCoE protocol, FC and UDP protocol conversion based on the FPGA(Field-Programmable Gate Array), to realize linear rate of protocol conversion; finally, design test environment for the FC and 1 OG Ethernet bridge system, to test out the function and performance.The test results have achieved the expected goals:the conversion rates of FC and FCoE protocol, FC and UDP protocol are all close to linear rate. The maximum transmission rate for coversion of FC and FCoE is 393.4MB/s, with the efficiency of 97.1%, for FC and UDP is 387.8MB/s, with the efficiency of 95.7%, which is meeting the maximum transmission bandwidth of 4G FC; other types of data packets have the corresponding effective links, and the software configurationfunctionfor bridge table has achieved, to ensure the overall system function can be comfigured.
