With the rapid development of Internet, it has been applied in all aspects of society. The network scale and performance required continue to increase due to users demands. So the network switching technology also needs to be updated and improved accordingly. In order to meet the higher demand of the network technology, the Internet group put forward the thought of network evolution and integration, trying to achieve the improvements of existing network.Network is composed of a variety of network technics, such as IP network and Ethernet network which are widely used in the Internet, in a manner they overlap. The emergence of the Vector Network brings about the demand for the integration of the Vector Network and Ethernet, which is the key research content of this thesis. The study draws lessons from the ARP protocol between Ethernet and IP network, then puts forwards a useful method to improve the address resolution protocol (VNARP) between Ethernet and Vector Network. This method is mainly based on the integration model of Ethernet and Vector Network, and improves two existing schemes (one with a leader and the other without a leader), so that it can reduce the number of transmitted signals and improve the efficiency of VNARP.This thesis mainly copes with the following tasks:(1) In the VNARP without a leader, each node sends testing kits by the method of combing cycle with random, so as to reduce the playing times and the network bandwidth;(2) In the VNARP with a leader, through strengthening leader work mechanism, reducing the number of transmitted signals, increasing leader exit mechanism, dealing with abnormal power-down and controlling the transmission of messages to the vector switch, the VNARP can be optimized, and the address resolution protocol between the Ethernet and the Vector Network can be improved. At the same time, the equivalent vector switch can better function to save network resources and enhance the efficiency of the network;(3) Set up a network experiment platform to conduct experiments based on two different schemes. The experimental results verify the feasibility of the improved scheme.
