With the rapid development of computer software, digital communications,Internet and information processing technologies, the integration of testing technology,computer technology and communication technology moves toward trends. With the rising of integration, testing industry has entered a new era, which shows the software testing technology, standardization and network. The development of computer hardware and software, gradually changed the traditional testing theory, measuring technology and measuring method. Nowadays, advantages as computer’s high performance calculations, graphical user interfaces, distributed multitasking, remote network transplanted in instrument or equipment. The development of computer technology has enriched the function of the test equipment and instruments, which works efficiently, and contributed to different applications in R&D of automatic test system.Ultra Wideband(UWB) communication is a technology emerged at the beginning of this century. Compared with the conventional wireless communication technology,UWB technology has many advantage as anti-interference, fading resistance, large capacity, low power consumption and high speed. The study of a wideband automatic measuring system, is of great significance to the development of UWB technologies.This thesis focuses on an automatic testing system for UWB receivers, which mainly has the following aspects:(1) An introduction of the background and significance of UWB receiver and dynamic software testing technology. The receiver is based on the basic architecture of testing system and traditional testing principle, which is a change of modern testing technology.(2) A summarization of the characteristics of UWB technology, as well as requirements and according to the principle and the existing ultra-wideband receiver testing system requirement. It theoretically considers wide frequency characteristics.According to the requirements and conditions of the design of automatic testing system,for both hardware and software. The controlling system sampling rate and analog to digital conversion rate meets the corresponding requirements.(3) Since Ultra wideband receiver errors appear in the testing system, the algorithm calculation error is analyzed. It also analyzes the possible errors related key technical indicators, including bandwidth, amplitude-frequency characteristics, noise figure,dynamic range, frequency, power, spectrum emission, all the harmonics and other technical parameters. Based on the error that may occur, it takes appropriate measurements to reduce as much as possible, thereby improving the accuracy and reliability of testing data.(4) Based on the basic principle of UWB receiver and measurement requirements,we have completed the testing system platform design. While the software based on LabWindows, we have built the overall architecture of the testing system. The design of automatic test equipment interface control software is divided into a communication module, the database module, the data processing and analysis module, report generation module, etc. The testing platform based on hardware and software design,which is given a certain type of UWB receiver, and testing software described in detail.The results shows that the automatic testing system designed meets the requirements of the original assumption, with favorable reliability.
