Phased array antenna is a beam scanning array antenna by controlling the phase of each element of the antenna. Phased array antennas have been widely used in various tactical radar, such as search, guide, fire control and missile guidance radar; some civilian radar, such as landing systems in air traffic control systems, weather radar,satellite communications and so on, satellite communications which are generally use wide-angle scanning circularly polarized phased array antenna, so wide scan angle circular polarization phased array antenna has important research value.Satellite Communications phased array antennas are generally required to have a small size, light weight, low profile, anti-radiation characteristics, For the microstrip antenna has a small size, light weight, low profile characteristics, so in this paper we use microstrip antenna as the basic unit of the antenna, design processing and testing the two sets of K- band phased array antenna, these two sets of antennas are left-handed and right-handed circularly polarized respectively, as the receiving and transmitting antennas. The main contents are as follows:(1) It describes the background and significance of the research, describes the definition of a phased array antenna simply, describes the history of the development and research status at home and abroad of the phased array antenna, introduces the main technical parameters and analytical methods of the circularly polarized phased array antenna.(2) On the basis of traditional microstrip antenna, two sets of antenna are designed and optimized. It is well known that slotted patch antenna have a wider bandwidth compared with the conventional patch antenna, in this paper the feed position is adjusted to the geometric center of the antenna by slits and the axial ratio characteristics is improved.(3) Microstrip antenna is used as antenna unit, through periodic rotation a 64 element receiving phased array antenna is designed and optimized. Analysis and verification of the defects of the conventional antenna layout, A 0 °, 45 °, 135 °, 270 °rotating four yuan antenna is simulated showing that the axial ratio characteristics and axial ratio bandwidth are improved. And then a 8 × 8 receiving antenna is modeled and simulated. This array antenna simulation and test results good, meet the designrequirements.(4) Microstrip antenna is used as antenna unit, through 0 degrees and 90 degrees,180 degrees and 270 degrees periodic rotation a 8 × 8 transmit phased array antenna is designed and optimized, simulation results good. The antenna is processed, and the direction and active S11 of the phased antenna is tested.
