With the integrated and lightweight trend of notebook computer, the portability of the notebook computer also needs to be considered by designers. So the touchpad has become the necessary input equipment of every notebook computer nowadays. However, during the period of touchpad using, many users reflect that the touchpad is easy to generate warping deformation. For this problem, we choose a certain type of laptop of Samsung computer that is researched,we get temperature and stress distribution, by using the FLUENT software to simulate temperature distribution of the laptop’s touchpad.we analyze that the main reason of this phenomenon are the thermal stress of the touchpad and assembling technology issue by research assembling process and observeing. The main research works carried out by this paper are as followed:(1) According to the investigation on the actual situation of research about notebook and touchpad, we carry out the assumption that the deformation of touchpad is caused by thermal stress and assembling issue, and determine the research scheme and technical route.(2) We analyze that the main reason of this phenomenon are the thermal stress of the touchpad and assembling technology issue by simulation and observeing assembling process.(3) Base on the theory of heat transfer and computational fluid dynamics, the numerical simulation model built up and the thermal simulation of the laptop is finished by using the FLUENT software. The temperature distribution of touchpad components which is concluded in the simulation before is imported to ANSYS Workbench to analyze the deformation and stress of the touchpad components. We obtain the contours of the deformation and stress of the touchpad. It is concluded that the thermal stress is one of the important reasons which cause the deformation of touchpad.(4) According to simulation, we get that the deformation of touchpad is caused by the thermal stress and get the research direction. And also it is found that some assembling issues caused touchpad deformation are tape force, cleanliness of components and adjusting JIG. By improving the assembling technology, the amount of the touchpad deformation to a minimum.
