As the growing demand for high-speed and tap-proof communication system, Free-space optical communication(FSO) system, both in space and inside the atmosphere, gradually become a hot topic for researchers. The scientists who study on the optical communication have shown great interests on the links involving satellites, deep-space probes ground stations, high altitude platforms(HAPs), aircraft, and so on. However, as we all know, when an optical wave propagates through an atmosphere, the amplitude and phase will be highly influenced by the random fluctuation of the refractive index of the atmosphere, which is also called optical turbulence, both in spatial and temporal. Thus, it is vitally important to quantitatively estimate the various statistical quantities, which are linked to the scintillations caused by atmospheric turbulence, when we are going to build a reliable links of optical communications between different kinds of spaces. In this paper, we conduct a significant research about the influence of Kolmogorov and non-Kolmogorov turbulence statistics on laser communication links in diverse spread scenes, and analyze the different effects of turbulence spectrum models on optical communication links. The results, which include the quantitative data, demonstrate that on laser communication channels, it is more severe for the non-Kolmogorov turbulence in many situations, and it is necessary to take the need to take the turbulence into account in wireless optical communication.
