Compared with conventional wireless senses-nodes, multimedia sensor nodes can process and transmit large complex multimedia data. However, the problem of power consumption is becoming more and more serious as the node capacity increasing. So the design of low power consumption and reliable performance multimedia sensor nodes has a great significance. This thesis selects the SEP6120 crip as the hardware platform, and points out that the core of node design is the protocol stack design. In the design of protocol stack, the node which is more nearly to the coordinator has more messaging tasks. So we need to optimize the CSMA/CAso that the node has more opportunities to access channel. But this change will lead to fast energy consumption. To resolve this problem, this thesis presents a new method to select cluster head. In addition, complex routing algorithm need more energy, the thesis presents a simple method for routing select and also discussed a method for congestion control. In this thesis, the design of node has been implemented, and the network performance has been tested. The test case includes transmission delay, packet loss rate, network speed and wireless video transmission, and the results indicate that the design of node meet the index. This thesis provides the reference design of Wireless Multimedia Sensor Nodes, and it does have widely application values.
