Along with the enhancement of our country’s economic strength,and the increase of people’s economic income, people not only have a request for the performance of the car, but also have more and more requirements for the appearance of the car, which makes the car paint research and development company to study better paint become inevitable. The spraying robot used in the present small and medium-sized coatings research and development company can’t meet the actual needs of production, and the introduction of the spraying robot is expensive. The analysis of the spraying robot development present situation and development trend both at home and abroad, based on the performance of the existing two-dimensional painting robot, identified the main technical parameters of an improved three-dimensional painting robots. CATIA software was used in painting three-dimensional modeling for the motion mechanism of the robot. Carrying out a three-dimensional control system improvement program, servo motors and actuators are analyzed and selected. Improved design of spray robot was assembled and tested, to compare the experiment performance of the imported foreign spraying robot with it before and after the improvement.The conclusion was that the improved coating robots met the practical requirements:(1)For thin spray work piece, the film thickness fluctuation before the spraying robot was larger, and the film thickness deviated a lot from the standard range; However the improved Spraying robot, the film thickness slight fluctuations, But it can meet the standard range.(2)For thick spray work piece,Before the improvement of spraying robot spraying film thickness increase with the thickness of the plate,and floating larger with type of paint.The improved spraying robot can adjust the spraying distance automatically. Spraying film thickness can meet the standard range.(3)In the same spraying process, because of the film thickness determines the color and appearance quality of the paint, the improved spraying robot’s quality was better than the spraying robot.(4)The comprehensive performance of the improved spraying robot was close to the comprehensive performance of the imported spraying robot.In summary, comprehensive performance of the improved spraying robot was better than before spraying robot and close to import spraying robot integrated performance.
