Research Of Status And Influence Factors Of Environmental Information Disclosure Of Listed Company In Northwest China

Since the implementation of the western development strategy, the Northwest, asan important energy and resource base for China, not only achieved rapiddevelopment of the economy, but also pay a heavy environmental price. As the majoremitters of pollutants, enterprises should be subject to strict controls. Environmentalinformation disclosure, as an important tool in the management of environment, hasgained important development. Due to the imbalance of regional economicdevelopment in China, the development of economy and the research ofenvironmental information disclosure lag behind in northwest. Therefore, it isnecessary to study the status and influence factors of environmental informationdisclosure of listed company in northwest china. Through research, on the one hand,we can understand the status of environmental information disclosure of listedcompany in northwest china clearly; on the other hand, we can find the main factorsthat affect the environmental information disclosure and put forward specificrecommendations to improve the environmental information disclosure in NorthwestChina.Firstly, this paper analyzes the status of environmental information disclosure oflisted company in northwest china using content analysis, and it is from three majoraspects, such as the quantity, the quality and the content. And then analyzes therelevant factors that affect the quantity and quality of environmental informationdisclosure in Northwest China using correlation analysis and multiple linearregression analysis, and it is from two major aspects, such as the external pressure andinternal pressure.The results of this paper show that the overall condition of environmentalinformation disclosure has undergone significant improvement in Northwest Chinafrom2004to2011, but at the same time there are some problems, such as the qualityof environmental information disclosure shows a downward trend and the content ofthe environmental information disclosure shows some imbalance, with the number ofenvironmental information disclosure increasing. In influencing factors, thepromulgation of the law, the legal sensitivity of the industry laws, the concentration ofownership have a significant impact on the quantity of environmental information disclosure in Northwest China, while the proportion of Fund’s holding, long-termsolvency, short-term solvency, the size of the board, the proportion of independentdirectors, the board director holding a CEO and the size of the board of supervisorsconcurrently have an impact on environmental information disclosure in NorthwestChina, but don’t reach a significant level. The legal sensitivity of the industry laws,long-term solvency and the proportion of independent directors have a significantimpact on the quality of environmental information disclosure in Northwest China,the board director holding a CEO has a significant negative impact on the quality ofenvironmental information disclosure in Northwest China, while the promulgation ofthe law, the concentration of ownership, the proportion of Fund’s holding, short-termsolvency, the size of the board and the board of supervisors concurrently have animpact on environmental information disclosure in Northwest China, but don’t reach asignificant level.Finally, put forward specific proposals on how to promote the development ofenvironmental information disclosure in Northwest China, with establishing andimproving the environmental accounting standards and strengthening the external andinternal pressure.
