An Empirical Study Of The Relationship Between Tourism Development And Economic Growth In Gansu Province

Study on the relationship between tourism development and economic growthhas been an important part of tourism impact studies. As tourism has become thefastest growing industries in the economy of the world.Study on the relationshipbetween tourism development and economic growth is increasingly valued byscholars at home and abroad.Most scholars believe that the development of tourismon economic growth has an important role,and relevant research results also continueto be accumulated.Research on the impact of economic growth on tourismdevelopment is gradually becoming more mature,and also reflect the positivesignificance to the economic development of strategic decisions,and almost alltheories assume that the development of tourism on the role of economic growth isremarkable.But,in a dynamics long-term process of economic development,what’s therelationship between tourism development and economic growth, does thedevelopment of tourism promote economic growth,or economic growth promoted thedevelopment of tourism,or tourism development and economic growth promote eachother?Following this thinking to study the relationship between tourism developmentand economic growth in Gansu Province, so as to provide theoreticalDecision-making and empirical support for tourism development and economicgrowth in Gansu Province.Based on the reference study at home and abroad, and with relevant data of1994-2012on tourism and the national economy in Gansu Province,this paper useseconometric theory and methods to establish a vector autoregression model and vectorerror correction model,on this basis,this paper has given the empirical analysis of therelationship between tourism development and economic growth in GansuProvince.The results show that there is a long-term stable equilibrium relationshipbetween tourism development and economic growth in Gansu Province by Johansencointegration test.That economic growth by1percentage point each in GansuProvince,its total tourism revenue will Increase1.95percentage points,and theGranger causality test results indicate that,no mattrt short or long term,there iseconomic growth to tourism development unidirectional causality.From theperspective of the impulse response analysis,all values of impulse response function are positive,so it shows that after economic growth of Gansu Province is subjectedto a sequence of positive impact on the standard deviation,Total tourism income ofsequence will change in the same direction,and the impact has significant sustainedeffect.VECM coefficient error correction term is significant in Statistics,this indicatesthat when the GDP and total tourism income of Gansu Province deviated from theirlong-run equilibrium,in the next issue of this deviation will have a correction of1.53%, and then it will be back from a non-equilibrium state equilibrium.In theend,on the basis of the results of this study,the paper has given relevant policyrecommendations about mutual development between tourism and economic growthof Gansu Province.
