Study On The Construction Path Of Chongqing Settlement Financial Center

Financial center can increase the city’s competitiveness, improve the financialecological environment, and promote the circulation of funds, attract theconglomeration of financial institutions, meanwhile radiation the surrounding areas. Itis a dynamic process to form the information evacuation hub.Chongqing is located in the strategic position which has the Bonded Port Area,Liangjiang New Area, and Chongqing new European Railway. Facing the opportunityof industrial structure adjustment, the enormous financial demand brining from thetransfer of the industry from the eastern coastal areas to the western region, and thesettlement demand due to the RMB internationalization, the government ofChongqing bring forward to construct the settlement financial center. This is thegeneral trend, and it will play an important role to promote the development ofregional economy. So it is significant to study how to build Chongqing settlementfinancial center. The purpose of this paper is to provide theoretical support andsuggestions for Chongqing to construct financial center.Firstly, this paper introduces the classical theory of financial centers, and dividesthe construction of financial center into four stags and two forming paths. Thenthrough factor analysis of Chongqing’s status, especially the compare of the marketfactors and government factors, the conclusion is that Chongqing is suit for theforming path which is leaded by government. As Singapore financial centerconstruction is helpful to the development of Chongqing settlement FC, the papertakes Singapore’s case for example, drawing the practical experience from Singaporegovernment. Finally, based on the status of Chongqing and the experience ofSingapore, policy recommendations are proposed at the last chapter.This paper mainly used literature analysis, factor analysis and case analysis. Theconclusion is government leaded forming path is suitable for Chongqing to constructfinancial center. The suggestions are to make full use of government advantages, do agood job in the long-term planning, and make sure to transfer the government role during the beginning, development, maturation and forming stage of the dynamicconstruction process, and make up the weakness of market factors, so as to realize themarket self strengthening function and radiation function.
