Economic globalization is one of the important features of the world economy.China’s market has opened since entering WTO in2001, which made the increase oninternational trading dramatically. As an integral part of international trade,international logistics and freight forwarding industry have taken advantage ofbooming.However, international financial crisis arising from America financial storm inthe year2007is penetrating the real economy since2008.Effected by the volume ofimports and exports, currency rate changing, and prices and other factors, most of thefreight forwarders face in worsening in business, funding constraints, increased riskof low profit and even the pressure of loss. Occupying the entire80%of the wholeforwarding industry, the Small and Medium sized Enterprises forwarding companyplay the main role in it. The development of them determines whether the entireindustry’s stability. So it has a certain meaning and value to study the developmentstrategy of small and medium freight forwarding company.Comparing with large state-owned company and foreign freight forwarders,SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) tends to be made in danger with variouschanges. My paper will analyze the case of S forwarding company, combined withthe deep study and discussion of the development strategy of small and medium-sizedforwarding companies, finding out the best option for S Company under economicdownturn according to its actual operating conditions. First, the related concepts andrecent status of forwarding company are discussed. Then, the case studies ofestablishing evaluation index system with AHP and fuzzy comprehensive evaluationmethod of the existing sample client from S company. Finally, the thesis focuses onthe implementation of customer relationship management measures andrecommendations proposed.In the case against S company’s development strategy during the economicdownturn shows that the proposed evaluation model and the measures suggested for Scompany has a certain practical as well as for other small and medium sized freightforwarding company for strategy development and reform with reference value.
