With the development of the second and third industries in Jiangsu province, and agriculture has been weaken gradually, pig breeding industry across from traditional farming to large-scale farming, the spatial pattern changes become a problem. During this time, environmental pollution, the price, management become bottleneck of development, so it needs to further promote industrial development, optimizing spatial pattern. Reasonable pig breeding industry pattern is conducive to solving environmental problems, improving productivity, optimizing the industrial structure, promoting regional development. Therefore, the study of pig breeding industry spatial pattern and its driving mechanism has important practical and theoretical significance. In this paper, qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis methods are adopted. The research has explored the spatial pattern changes of pig breeding industry in Jiangsu province from the year of 2001-2011, by investigation, Gini Coefficient, Moran’s I and other methods. Visit SanHe Village in Nantong and FuLi Village in Suzhou, based on field research, theoretical analysis, multivariate regression methods and 2001--2011 data about County in Jiangsu Province, the research has explored the spatial pattern of the pig breeding industry driven mechanism. Finally, Propose optimization proposal about the development and spatial patterns of pig breeding industry in Jiangsu Province. The main results are as follows.First, there is a trend of growth in yield and spatial pattern is gradually shifting to the northeast of Jiangsu province. Based on Gini Coefficient, Moran’s I and other methods to explore the trend of spatial pattern, from three economic zones, seven agricultural regions to counties, the results have shown that pig breeding is in a growing trend and spatial pattern is gradually shifting to the northeast, and 2008 has become an important year. The spatial pattern changes are significant that cluster in Pizhou, donghai, Sheyang, Binhai counties(cities, districts) has been strengthening. They will become large scale counties in pig breeding industry.Second, the impact of the spatial pattern of pig breeding industry is no longer a single drive. The scale and the cost-benefit change the spatial pattern of the pig breeding industry. Food product, rural population, farmer’s per capita income, consumer demand preferences are positively correlated with spatial pattern of pig breeding industry, especially the rural population; The cultivated land is negatively related to spatial pattern. Therefore, spatial pattern changes are based on scale and cost-benefit that environment, market, traffic, organization management and other factors restrict the cost-benefit. At the same time, urbanization, environment, financing and other factors restrict the scale enlargement. These factors directly or indirectly affect the spatial pattern of the entire pig breeding industry in Jiangsu Province, which makes a complex drive mechanism.Third, pig breeding industry need to optimize the industrial structure and moderate scale. The intensity of pig breeding industry in Shuyang is much higher than other regions, which is increasing pressure on the environment. So the intensity should gradually be weaken; Pizhou, Donghai, Sheyang, Binhai counties(cities, districts) have own advantages in the distance, rural labor, food production, geographical location. So, their pig breeding industries have much more potential in development; Qidong and Tongzhou which have grown at a rate of 10% per year, should be properly regulated in the future.
