The impact of fetishism of money can be seen everywhere nowadays. Because it is easy to be confused about surface role played by money and ignore the nature of money, so people will always believe that money has the magical power. People think that money can not only bring wealth, but also change people’s thoughts, feelings and even fate. Since the reform development began, the social culture in our country has been heavily affected by fetishism of money and a lot of people confirm that it is affected by the western culture. In the fact, fetishism of money has already been existed in the feudal society of China and Western Europe and the history of fetishism of money in China is even longer. There is a big difference between the development of fetishism of money in China and Western Europe. Fetishism of money can block the development of human and the whole society. So it is particularly important to study fetishism f money. Marx analyzed the reason of monetary fetishism by labor community and regarded monetary fetishism as the upgrade phase of commodity fetishism. Scholars also make a lot of efforts to study Marxist theory later. But numbers of literatures study the difference between the money fetishism in Chinese and Western European history is so small. The subject of my paper is to compare the money fetishism in Chinese and Western European history and find out reasons about the same points and different points. On the basis of others’research, I will represent the money fetishism in Chinese and Western European history and find out the reasons which cause the same and different points. In the feudal society, the Western economy was much more seriously affected by the war and Chinese traditional economy theory has a far-reaching influence. That is the reason why the number of Chinese literature reflected money fetishism is larger than that of Western European and the money fetishism reflected in China is more multitudinous. But in the other hand, due to the serious shortage of commodity economy and restriction by feudal society, they can’t able to find out the nature of money. The study about the nature of money is limited on the debate between nominalism and metallism, and they can’t achieve the level of Marx’s theory.
