Contribution Research On China’s Western Region Highway Construction Investment To Economic Growth

Transportation is the basis and premise of the national economy, the highway transportation industry as an important constituent, plays an irreplaceable role in the process of social and economic development, after carried out the reform and opening-up policy, the transportation industry, especially highway construction and development level is increasing quickly, development and progress of the highway pull a lot of relevant industries, also created a large number of employment opportunities in the process of development, strengthen the link between the areas, and the improvement of economic level has played a positive role in promoting, and create a large amount of income for the development of society.Although China’s vast area, there are larger differences, natural in each region, under the influence of natural and society factors, our country in highway development have different levels. Especially in the western region of our country, under the natural condition limitation, weak economic foundation, the development of highway transportation capacity is very weak, and the gap between the western and the national average is very big. the demand of the Highway construction investment and local social and economic development is still not high, in this case, if there is not healthy and reasonable transportation networks, will hinder the development of its economy, therefore, suitable investment and construction for highway will promote our country in the western region of the development of regional economy and play a positive role.This paper focuses on analysis the effect of western region highway construction investment to its actual economic growth from the perspective of theoretical and empirical research. the first is combined with the granger causality test and others explain China’s western region highway construction investment if promote the economic growth. on this basis, using the production function model, error correction model to empirical research, and then to the western region of our country highway construction investment compared with the national average, and it is concluded that the western region exists obvious deficiency, and the eastern region, compared with the national average, there is a larger gap. And that is what our government need in the process of the development of the western region to further solve the problem. Finally, this paper combined with the western region highway construction development problems in investment, on the base of draw lessons from some successful experiences, puts forward some countermeasures to improve it.
