Nowadays the tourism in China has become a promis ing business. With the rap id development of tourism, tourists have become increas ingly demanding for tourism projects and products. Almost all provinces and cities are striving to develop new tourism projects. Festival tourism is one of the most common form and has become a new means to promote regional development and city image. However, some of the projects are developing in a random and disorderly manner, regardless of overall p lanning. The development of festival tourism in the Inner Mongo lia also has some problems. Therefore, it is necessary to have a d iscussion on the prosperous development of festival tourism.The thesis here aims to have a deep analysis on the present situation of festival tourism in Inner Mongo lia from the following four perspectives : the different stages of development, the census and the classification, the distribution characteristics, the overall characteristics. Meanwhile, based on the statistics from 2007 to 2012, with the aid of Grey Relational Analys is method and AHP, the thesis screens all the relevant factors, forms an SWOT analys is of festival tourism in Inner Mongo lia and puts forward its suggestions on relevant problems.Common are such problems as unclear advertisement, lack of consciousness of elaborate works and marketing, repetition of themes and poor infrastructure in the development of festival tourism in Inner Mongo lia. Therefore, after thorough research, the thes is presents the following solutions: the careful market survey, the effective choice of festival themes that accords with local advantages, the introduction of market mechanism, the regulation and improvement of environment and infrastructure, as well as the effective advertisement to build up its own festival tourism brand.
