Since the Reform and Opening up, Chinese enterprises’ foreign investment has gradually become an important component of the foreign directly investment throughout the world, with the not so good performance at the same time. This paper attempts to study the effect of regional specific experience learning on Chinese enterprises’ foreign investment performance, in order to explore out which regional specific experience adapts different situations, thereby promoting performance.This paper respectively studied the host country experience learning, the same regional experience learning and the different regional experience learning’s effect on Chinese enterprises’ foreign investment performance, using both theoretical and empirical analysis, with Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchange’s listing corporations’overseas subsidiaries (from 2001 to 2010)as sample. This paper further analysis and compared different enterprises’ regional specific experience learning’s effect. The result shows that:(1) The host country experience learning positively affects the performance, while the same region and different region experience learning negatively affects the performance; (2) The whole-owned enterprises’ regional specific experience learning’s effect to the performance is larger than the joint ones; (3)Enterprise in service industry’s regional specific experience learning’s effect to the performance is larger than the enterprises in other industry;(4) Enterprise in Hongkong’s regional specific experience learning’s effect to the performance is larger than the enterprises not in Hongkong.Conclusions of this paper will play an important role in choosing the correct learning object, thereby enhance the performance of Chinese enterprises’ foreign investment.
