Research On Business Data Migration Within Enterprise Informatization Project

With the development of each company, the external challenges for companieschange constantly, every company has to optimize the resources and businessprocess to adapt to external challenges. When the business process changes, there isthe demand for upgrading of the enterprise information system. In addition, thebusiness data is very important as enterprise assets, the company requires to keepthe old data. All these reasons damand the data migration project. In order to study ITdata migration in various complicated environment, many institutions and scholarshave conducted a lot of research, proposed the ETL theoryto guide the data migration.But for the studyof data migration for “Business” data, rare research has done.This paper focuses on the combination of migration theory and SAP datamigration, including the project management theory for business data migration,mainly is the organization,scheduling and risk including the organization chart setupwith business colleagues, the five phases’ plan with detailed data migration tasks, theimportance of data verification and risk control strategy. To enhance the original ETLtechnology for business data migraiton, I added a step named business data transform,by introducing the central mapping strategy, not only ensure data quality at field anddatabase level but also ensure successful integration of all the data in a specificproject and make sure SAP MRP running smoothly later on. At the end by applying data migration theory, through the practice in a SAPimplementation project, introduced business data migration project, migrationstrategy, and took bill of materials migration as an example, elaborated the process ofdata migration, confirmed the feasibility of data migration theory.
