| Modern industrial civilization came into being in the late18th century, marked by the emergence of industrial revolution. When the industrial civilization was rising and prospering in Europe, most feudal farming area of the East Asia countries represented by China is still in a state of seclusion. European capitalist countries on behalf of new industrial civilization began to expand its industry by force invasion and spread to feudal farming cultural region of the East Asia countries in the early19th century, as the frontier of China, Mongolia was inevitably affected.Under the impact of industrial civilization wave, Mongolia’s business environment has changed. The status of Mongolian merchants in Mongolia region also changed with it, the influx of foreign investors broke the monopoly situation in Mongolian trade which giving a huge challenge to the Mongolian merchants. In order to retrieve the decline tendency, the Mongolian merchants were forced to make adjustments and began offer for sale of foreign industrial goods, even to do import and export business overseas. These adjustments played a role in occupying the market of Mongolia in the early stages of competition with foreign suppliers, but due to losing of trade initiative and the increasing dependence on foreign capital and industrial products, the Mongolian merchants begun to decline when lost both the internal and external conditions.Modern industrial civilization’s impact on the Mongolian merchants led to its decline, mainly showed in the following aspects:1. Inexpensive and high-quality manufactured goods flooded into the Mongolian market;2. Foreign capitalist countries forced the Qing government to sign unequal treaties which serious damaged the interests of Mongolian merchants;3. Emerging new modes of transport struck the Traditional transportation-based Mongolian merchants;4. Foreign aggression greatly weakened the strength of the Qing government and its control over the country also subsided, the state is in a situation of internal disorder and external invasion, as the war continued, Mongolian merchants directly or indirectly suffered the ravages of war. The decline of Mongolian merchants caused the internal social differentiation. |
