Competitiveness Assessment Research On Food Industry Cluster In Henan Province

With the intensifying of marketing competition, the important role of industrial cluster isbecoming more and more prominent. As an important way of promoting the development of regionaleconomic, improving industry competitiveness power and realizing leaping development, industrial clusterhas become an important strength for the region or country to participate in international competition, andhas being studied widely by scholars home and abroad.The food industry cluster is the biggest industrial clusters and is the important driver ofdeveloping the economy of Henan province. It is an inevitable choice to take full advantage of centralrise, construction of Zhengzhou airport and Zhongyuan Economic Zone" to promote food industrytransferring the regional cluster that can speed up the transformation of economic development patterns andimprove the benefit and the competitiveness of food industry in Henan province. Henan as a bigagricultural province, developing food industry based on the organizational form of industrial cluster playsa crucial role in promoting the economic transformation and development. This paper makes food industrycluster in Henan as the researching object, and combines cluster development theory and the actualsituation of food industry development in Henan province, and adopts the combination of qualitativeanalysis and quantitative analysis method to evaluate the food industry cluster competitiveness. On thebasis of systematically analyzing predecessors research, the paper mainly researches these followingcontents:Firstly, based on introducing the selected topic background, research significance and researchpurpose in detail, by means of literature research method, the paper summarizes and arranges the researchresults which they have been studied by domestic and foreign scholars of industrial cluster definition,industrial cluster development mode, the theory of industry cluster’ competitiveness, the industrial clustercompetitiveness evaluation method and the present status of food industry cluster and so on. It alsoevaluates the above scholars’research contribution and deficiency, and gives the author’innovations points.According to the research contents of the thesis, it focuses on introducing index system building ofindustrial cluster, industrial cluster competitiveness evaluation method, etc which provides a theory basisfor evaluating food industry cluster competitiveness in henan province.Secondly, the paper analyzes the present situation and characteristics of Henan food industry cluster development. It also uses location quotient to compare the concentration ratio of the food industry inHenan province with30provinces of the nation’s food industry, it is concluded that the food industryagglomeration degree of Henan province still has a gap compared with other strong provinces, and the scaleand speed of Henan food industry cluster development are out of proportion. Then, the paper analyzes theadvantages and disadvantages of the development of Henan food industry cluster from these six aspectsthat the production factors, demand conditions, related and supporting industries, business strategy,structure and competition status, the government role and the opportunities with the aid of the theory ofporter’s diamond model.Thirdly, this paper expounds the connotation of GEM model and analyzes its advantages anddeficiencies in the aspect of evaluating industrial cluster competitiveness. It also puts forward the effectiveimprovement scheme and builds the food industry cluster competitiveness evaluation index system basedon GEM model. Then it uses analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and quantitative methods to determineevaluation index and its weights, and the conclusion shows that Henan food industry clustercompetitiveness occupies the advanced level in china, but it still has a long distance to become acompetitive advantage in the domestic.Finally, in view of the final evaluation results, the paper puts forward suggestions on how topromote the Henan food industry cluster competitiveness through by taking the basic competitiveness,industrial competitiveness and market competitiveness.
