ITIL Theory-Based Management Of An IT Support Improvement Project In Insurance Company A

With the development of IT, it is becoming increasingly important in various industries, and all enterprises also pay more and more attention to the investment on IT. IT (information technology) is employed by enterprises to develop applications that meet their needs, and these applications can enable better management of production, improve the management and production efficiency, and save operation costs. In order to realize the full potential of IT and allow the hardware and software investments to better serve the development of the enterprise, it is necessary to rely on IT service management.This paper first presents the theoretical aspects of IT service management, project management and ITIL, and carries out a feasibility and necessity analysis for the IT service support improvement project in insurance company A. Following the latest developments of project management research in China and abroad, the paper then use the four-phase project management life cycle theory to discuss the project management work in the start-up, planning, implementation and finishing stages of the project. The planning and implementation of the project mainly uses such management methods as work breakdown structure (WBS), responsibility assignment matrix, and Gantt charts. Through this study of the project management aspects of insurance company A’s IT service support improvement project, we hope to provide a new understanding of project management, namely that it is a new management approach that allows comprehensive management of the project in time, cost, quality, risk, human resources, etc. In this way, this paper provides a basic approach for enterprises to implement project management, and help enterprises understand the ways and methods of project management implementation.
