In recent years, with the business environment increasingly complicated, thecompetition between enterprises is becoming fierce. But the business model has becomethe strategic tool to improve the enterprise’s competitive ability and improve enterpriseperformance. That attracted the attention of the academic and the business. From reviewand summarize numerous literatures can see: at present the study of business model isfocused on the business model definition, component, classification and innovation, etc.Although a lot of achievements have been made, but there are still many deficiencies.First, the academic circles have no consensus on the business model definition,constituent elements and classification. Second, the related research on business modelfocuses on the Internet industry, little attention to other industries. Finally, the majorityresearch about business model and corporate performance are theoretical studies, less isempirical, especially in combination with a particular industry large sample. This leadsto existing theories cannot explain how to use the business model to obtain acompetitive advantage in another industry, and harder to provide a meaningful businessmodel innovation path, so need to take further research in this aspect.In this paper, put the energy conservation and environmental protection enterprisesas the research object, Aims to reveal the energy conservation and environmentalprotection enterprise business model, how influence the enterprise performance, andprovide practical reference for its business model design or innovation. Firstly, byreading the literature, systematically neaten the business model (definition, elementsand classification) and enterprise performance (definition, influence factors, evaluation)related theories and research results. Secondly, through the literature research, to definethe business model and enterprise performance, divided business model into valueproposition, value creation, value delivery, value realization, and divided enterpriseperformance into profitability, operation ability, growth ability. Based on this, to buildtheory model that the business model impact on enterprise performance, and putforward the research hypothesis. Finally, use the empirical analysis, to verify this modeland hypothesis. Then made the comprehensive evaluation score of different type ofbusiness model, comparison of the merits of the business model and put forward somerelated suggestions. The main conclusion is: Business modes adopted by Energyconservation and environmental protection industry listed companies are very different, which is divided into64categories, there are16kinds of business models adopted bymore retail enterprises, and all kinds of business models have different comprehensivescore. Business model different dimensions have a significant effect on businessperformance, the value proposition dimension has a significant impact on profitability;the value creation dimension to the profitability, growth ability, operation ability’s effectis remarkable; the value delivery dimension has significant effects on profitability,operation ability; the value dimension significantly influences on profitability, growthability. Different business model has a significant effect on business performance, andthe impacts on different dimensions of performance are different. The business modelhas significantly influenced on profitability, followed by growth ability, the weakesteffect on operation ability.Innovation points:(1) Energy conservation and environmental protection industrylisted companies are very different, which is divided into6categories, there are3kindsof business models adopted by more retail enterprises. The3kinds of business modelshave advantages on profitability and operation ability.(2) The thought of"segment—overall" is put forward from the perspective of value creation. Reveals thatbusiness model has a significant different effect on business performance.
