70%of product cost are influenced by design cost. More and more scholars begin to focus on cost management to design stage. An effective design cost management system can make the product cost under control in the whole product life cycle.Although the importance of design cost in product cost system has become a consensus of many researchers, but the research of design cost stays at a relatively shallow stage. The researcher achievements of the theory and technology are not mature. Now most research of the product cost is concentrated in the manufacturing process. Such a situation of design cost study is caused by difficulties in design stage.Design cost is very different to manufacturing cost, the information of manufacturing cost is in the actual process, through research, the researchers can analyze current manufacturing process, get a lot of cost information. Design process, however, a lot of cost information belongs to invisible, exists in the designer’s design drawings. It is hard to get precise design cost through these drawings, can only draw some cost according to the designer’s experience. The true cost in the manufacturing process, is after cost, the space can be improved is very limited.The paper first illustrates the research background, domestic and foreign research achievements of the product cost, design cost research status, especially for the design cost management of non-standard equipment manufacturers. In order to establish a design cost management system, this paper introduces the method of Six Sigma, the paper presents a new process for apply DMADV processes, each process stage for solving problems and the output results.Through DMADV process, analyzes the influence factors of design cost, the whole design process is divided into three main stages, concept design, scheme design and detailed design stage. According to the different design emphasis, the design cost control method is different. Due to insufficient information in concept design phase, design cost control focus on the determination of target cost. According to the target cost from sales department, convert the needs of customers to design requirements, verify the structure of target cost, provide reasonable and accurate target cost with follow-up work. In scheme design phase, design cost focus on the elaboration to meet the requirements of customers design, use advanced design method to saving design time, optimize design structure to achieve the goal of reasonable cost. In the detailed design phase, design cost control focused on by more comprehensive professional knowledge and the structure, make the design drawing is aligned with the manufacturability, achieve the goal of design cost control with low manufacturing cost. Although control points on each phase are different, but a lot of influence factors are similar.In the three stages of design, on the basis of considering the product whole life cycle cost management concept, develope a set of cost management methods from the early stage of the design process, to the product after-sales service related to the design. Designers can work under the guidance of the system, using different methods in different design stage, has a strong guiding significance. In this paper, combining with an actual case, verify the optimized the design of the cost management system, and improve the system continuously.The achievement of this paper is combined with Six Sigma method, analyzed the existing design cost management model based on an non-standard equipment manufacturing enterprise,, the design quality and design cost is closely related with the6Sigma management concept Design quality and cost become a whole consideration, the design cost control system is based on the guarantee the quality of design, has a strong practical guidance.
