The Research On Corporate Social Responsibility Information Disclosure Of Pharmaceutical Industry In China

Nowadays, corporate social responsibility has already been an important indicator of a company’s international competitiveness and sustainable development. While, the fulfillments and information disclosure of corporate social responsibility in China are still at an early stage compared with the developed countries. Among all the industries, the pharmaceutical enterprises play an important role in the special mission to protect human lives and health. However, the level of social responsibility information disclosure is still relatively low, and this phenomenon leads us to focus on the researches about the pharmaceutical industry’s social responsibilities.In this paper, the author takes the case of Yunnan Baiyao, a listing company, to show the problems of its information disclosure and put forward the optimization measures of the pharmaceutical industry. All of this is aimed at promoting the level of sustainable development of the social responsibility information disclosure among the Chinese pharmaceutical industry. First of all, by introducing the research findings of disclosure on social responsibilities according to literature study, the readers can see the existing circumstances of pharmaceutical industry’s information disclosure. And the related concepts can be defined. In this part, the author divides the disclosure of social responsibility into two aspects, the general social responsibility and the special social responsibility. The general social responsibility is described from seven stakeholders’ angles, including customers, employees, the community, the public, partners and so on. The special social responsibility is divided into six parts, including product quality, R&D management, environmental protection and so on. Secondly, on the basis of pyramid model, stakeholder theory, triple bottom line and asymmetric information theory, the social responsibility report of Yunnan Baiyao company is subdivided into various items on general social responsibility and special social responsibility. The analyses of the status quo reveal seven problems existed in this company, such as the uncomprehensive stakeholders and the pharmaceutical industry’s unobtrusive special social responsibility disclosure, etc.Finally, after introducing the whole pharmaceutical industry’s status in social responsibility information disclosure, the author proposes that the information disclosure of general social responsibility should be optimized, and the great importance to the special social responsibility’s information disclosure should be attached. Then, from the perspective of sociology, the necessities of government departments, industry associations, consumer associations and media sectors are described in the supervision of pharmaceutical enterprises’ information disclosure of social responsibility. These conclusions are in order to provide some enlightenments on theoretical and practical study of the pharmaceutical industry’s social responsibility information disclosure in China.
