However, in the traditional growth model of industrial civilization which is typically called "high pollution, high consumption and high emissions", especially China’s petrochemical industry has the familiar characteristics of its production, like the problem of high consumption and wasting emission, the petrochemical industry not only has been facing the shortage of resource supply for their further development but also has brought the great pressure to the natural environment, which led to a series of ecological and environmental problems,Therefore, the problem of how to deal with the harmonious development between the petrochemical industry and the natural environment and how to bring the concept of ecological civilization into the strategic development of the petrochemical industry has currently become the most important issue for the further development of the country’s petrochemical industry. So, from the concept of the ecological environment on current, in order to achieve the coordinated development of petrochemical industry and the natural environment, it undoubtedly has the important practical significance to analyze the development situation of China’s petrochemical industry, to evaluate the level of sustainable development of China’s petrochemical industry, to research the challenges China’s petrochemical industry are facing and to discuss the coping strategies for government, industry and business.For this reason, this paper is to study the sustainable development of China’s petrochemical industry from the perspective of ecological civilization and to explore the significance of sustainable development in the attempting of perspective of ecological civilization research combined with China’s petrochemical industry and to reveal the sustainable development issues on the basis of the background and current development of China’s petrochemical industry, then to discuss the sustainable development of the petrochemical industry in this era of ecological civilization, in order to provide a reference for the sustainable development of China’s petrochemical industry.
